Med Plus Disability Evaluations, Inc., founded by Dr. Claude Earl Fox, is a physician owned, family operated company that has been in business for 18 years. Med Plus is a block vendor, currently operating in 15 states across the United States from New Mexico to Massachusetts. Dr. Fox began doing consultative exams himself 31 years ago for the Mississippi Disability Determination Services (DDS) and has personally performed more than 70,000 evaluations for social security and state disability.
Med Plus provides consultative exams to state DDS offices with over 140 physicians at over 70 sites in 15 states. The company is a gold member of the National Association of Disability Examiners (NADE), and has full time offices in Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. Dr. Fox’s 22 years of experience as a state employee and 7 years as a federal civil servant with the Senior Executive Service helps him understand the pressures and resource limitations that DDS offices are often required to deal with in doing their work.
Med Plus is a volume provider, providing consultative exams in various medical areas and also has the capability to perform tests such as spirometry, ECGs and in some sites radiology services. Some examples of exams we provide are Family Practitioner, Internist, Orthopedic, Pediatric and in some locations, otolaryngology exams. A unique aspect of the company is that Dr. Fox continues to personally recruit and train all of the physicians the company employs, just as he did from the start. This gives him a way to stay connected to what Med Plus is doing as a company and an opportunity to personally know and feel comfortable with the medical staff and their capabilities. In addition to training new physicians, he and his full time staff also continue to provide quality assurance and assistance to DDS offices in obtaining needed clarification from Med Plus physicians for follow up questions. In accordance with the new digital era, Med Plus is transitioning to a completely paperless work environment both administratively and for providing consultative exams through the ERE website. Med Plus is able to upload and download CE information and consultative reports through the ERE site. Med Plus is developing an electronic medical record and will offer it to states within the next year as a way to speed up receipt of the CEs; however Med Plus will also continue to provide CE reports by transcription as well. A particular strength of Med Plus has been the ability to recruit physicians in rural areas and other sites where state DDS offices may have difficulty getting CEs performed. Med Plus also has staff who are bilingual and fluent in Spanish for your convenience.
